What is an
Anam Cara?
Anam Cara is a Gaelic term meaning “soul friend.” John O’Donohue tells us that in earlier Celtic times, an Anam Cara was a teacher, companion, or spiritual guide.
An Anam Cara of Rosa Mystica Mystery School is a woman trained to walk alongside another, with precise discernment, being a companion through grief or thresholds where an old life ends … before new one is visible.
She does not lead or fix. She guides through holding an authentic, steady presence. She listens.
She sees another truly, holds them completely, walking side-by-side.
This is the deepest kind of embodiment. It’s not an act or a technique. You become a container.
In this certification track, you’ll learn the embodied skills and tools to be in sacred service as a soul friend—an Anam Cara.
You’ll also be trained to become a mentor to sisters in Rosa Mystica, sharing your wide-open heart.
These are practices you’ll be able to apply not only as a mentor, but in your daily life as a Scent Priestess, lovingly guiding others through life’s initiations, unafraid to show up … because Scent Priestesses are the Wayshowers.
You’ll remember how—and confidently gain the skills to—gather others into safe spaces where they can lay down long-held wounds, unfurl their rose hearts, and unite in true sisterhood.
As an Anam Cara spiritual guide, you’ll place the candles at the altar, sit in devotion by another’s side, be a witness to their stories, hold the cascades of tears as they fall, breathe with—and be the light in the darkness—then call them home to themselves.
An Anam Cara & Spiritual Guide is Not…

You are trained to listen deeply, ask discerning questions, witness—without judgment—and support another to hear their inner knowing.

Jacquie Eva Rose is the second kind.
An Ordained Scent Priestess and Temple Keeper of Spikenard, Compassion Remembered, and Ylang Ylang, the Temple of Sensuality, Jacquie has spent over nineteen years walking the path of trauma healing, feminine embodiment, and sacred facilitation. She is Co-Faculty and Programme Manager within the Rosa Mystica Mystery School, and the architect of Anam Cara itself.
As the creator and lead mentor of this program, Jacquie has spent years forming women into skilled, embodied space holders within the Rosa Mystica lineage. She knows what it looks like when a woman is holding from her womb and when she is holding from her wound. She can feel the difference between a container that is genuinely alchemical and one that is beautifully intentioned but not yet safe. And she will tell you the truth about what she sees, with love, and with clarity.
What this means for you inside Anam Cara is real-time supervision and course correction from someone who has held this work at every level. Not a teaching delivered from a distance. Not a document to study on your own. Jacquie in the room with you, watching how you hold, feeling where you contract, and knowing exactly how to bring you back to your centre.

Certification Requirements
Certification is not guaranteed … but it puts you on track to apply to become an Ordained Anam Cara Spiritual Guide & Sacred Celebrant
You’ll be required to do the following over 15 months:
- Complete all assignments, assessments & reviews
- Mentor first-year Rosa Mystica sisters alongside a Lead Mentor from January–December, attending your assigned circles and stepping forward as Circle Lead for required circles
- Attend your monthly Anam Cara Sister Circles with your Assistant Guides
- Attend your monthly Anam Cara Councils with Jacquie Eva Rose
- Attend the required 3-day, in-person training retreat in the UK
Then, within 12 months of completing Anam Cara, you’ll complete the following to receive final certification:
- The Rite: Design & hold one complete rite of passage for a person, family, or small group outside Rosa Mystica—and submit a record of the experience and feedback from those you served.
- The Accompaniment: Hold one sustained Anam Cara soul friendship outside Rosa Mystica, offering a minimum of six spiritual counsels across at least four months.
- The Final Attestation: Complete your final certification review/interview with Jacquie Eva Rose, including reflection on your external ministry & feedback from those who received your service.
Certification is awarded when you have demonstrated—not simply studied—the presence, discernment, boundaries, ceremonial skill, and capacity for sacred service required of an Anam Cara Spiritual Guide.

Must I have completed Lineages?
Yes, Lineages is a pre-requisite for Anam Cara. You will also be required to complete an application and interview. If after the interview, we feel Anam Cara isn’t for you, then we’ll refund you the $500 deposit.
Do I need or want ordination?
No, not at all. We have two ordination and certification pathways now in Rosa Mystica. One or the other may be calling to you, or perhaps you may not be called to ordination now or ever. That is totally ok. Trust your heart.
I’m confused between the two different certification and ordination paths in Rosa Mystica. Will you please explain?

You don’t need to do both certification tracks. You choose the form of sacred service that is calling you.
What if I don't want to become a professional Spiritual Guide?
That, too, is beautiful. Many sisters choose to access these gifts to create the sacred ceremony in their personal lives, to become more fully present, and to be able to be a true companion to those in their private lives. You do not need to do this as a vocation or profession. This will help you tend to your family, friends, and loved ones whenever you’re called upon to be of service.
Is this therapy training?
No, this is not. It is very important to note that there is no legal credential here & you aren’t being trained to give therapeutic counsel or advice. You’re trained to listen well, to hold space, and to support another to be present enough to listen to their own hearts–and when to refer to others for therapy or other professional help.
Is the retreat required?
Yes. It is required to be certified. No exceptions.

Can I take both Rosa Mystica certification paths?
Yes, but not simultaneously. Consider the length of time and investments.
Does this allow me to perform legal marriages?
No. Anam Cara Certification does not make you a legally authorized marriage officiant.
You will be trained to create and hold sacred, non-legally-binding rites of passage, including weddings, handfastings, sacred unions, uncouplings, and other ceremonies that mark important thresholds in a person’s life.
Ordination within Rosa Mystica is a separate path and recognizes you as an ordained Priestess who may perform marriage rites within the lineage. Legal authority to solemnize a marriage is separate and depends upon the laws and registration requirements where you live.
What exactly does “Certified Spiritual Guide” mean?
Becoming a Certified Spiritual Guide & Sacred Celebrant means you have done more than study the principles of sacred space-holding.
You have demonstrated—through training, supervised practice, assessments, mentorship, and real-world application—that you can skillfully:
- offer spiritual direction and sacred counsel
- deeply listen, witness, and support another’s discernment without fixing or becoming the authority in their life
- hold circles, sacred containers, and ceremonies with integrity
- work responsibly with boundaries, projection, dependency, and referral
- companion people through grief, transition, and other sacred thresholds
- weave the Holy Oils into sacred ministry and rites of passage
- create and hold rites of passage for individuals and groups
Certification is the professional skills-and-embodiment credential within this Rosa Mystica path. It demonstrates that you have been trained, practiced under supervision, and assessed in the Art of Sacred Ministry.
What is the difference between Certification & Ordination?
Certification recognizes what you have been trained and demonstrated the skill to do.
Through Anam Cara, you develop and demonstrate competency in spiritual direction, sacred counsel, embodied space-holding, ceremonial ministry, and rites of passage. Certification gives you a credential that supports you in bringing these skills into your own vocation, community, ministry, or practice.
Ordination recognizes who you have become and the sacred vow you are choosing to carry.
Ordination comes later and is not automatically granted through certification. It is a separate initiatory path within Rosa Mystica in which you petition to be recognized as an Anam Cara Ordained Spiritual Guide & Sacred Celebrant —one who has demonstrated sustained devotion, embodiment, and readiness to carry this ministry as a Priestess of the Rose.
In simplest terms:
Certification = demonstrated training, skill & competency.
Ordination = sacred recognition, devotion & vow within the lineage.
You do not need to seek ordination in order for your Anam Cara Certification to be meaningful or useful in the world.
And ordination does not grant permission to initiate, ordain, or teach the proprietary works of Rosa Mystica Mystery School.
How much time should I expect to devote each month?
Expect to devote 3 hours per month for your homework assignments + 4 hours per month for the live calls/own personal development and holding + 2 hours for your monthly sister circle call + 10 hours roughly for and space holding duties to the first year students in WhatsApp.
This is around 18-20 hours of personal development and space holding practice.
